Position Overview
Gilbert Center for Family Medicine is seeking an experienced Medical Scribe to support our healthcare team by ensuring accurate, real-time documentation of patient encounters. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing advanced degrees in medicine or a related healthcare field, offering direct exposure to clinical practice in a busy Family Medicine setting.
What You'll Do
- Accompany the physician into the patient examination room to transcribe the history and physical exam in real time
- Accurately document diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated by the physician
- Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology, and medications
- Maintain accurate and complete records in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Protect patient rights by maintaining strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and practice requirements
- Build effective working relationships with physicians and clinical staff
- Deliver a high level of customer service to patients, contributing to a comfortable and professional experience
- Perform other related clinical or clerical duties as directed to support office flow and practice goals
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Scribe experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology
- Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm
- Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new clinical applications
- Ability to multitask, remain flexible, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field
- Experience with Nextgen EMR
- Demonstrated ability to act calmly and effectively in high-volume or stressful situations
- Strong customer service skills with clear, concise communication
Note: This is a full-time, in-person position at our single location at Lindsay and Warner in Gilbert, AZ. Saturday availability (one per month) is required. Benefits are available after 90 days of employment.
